Are you serious about your business? Are you serious enough to spend a calculated amount of time product sourcing? The internet is great for looking at supplier websites, but what about meeting suppliers and shaking hands? What about adding dozens, if not hundreds, of new inventory sources to your Little Back book? I’m talking about the value of attending the ASD Trade show, held twice yearly, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Las Vegas may be home to craps tables, slot machines, and enough liquor to wash away reality, but the safest bet for you and I, in terms of product sourcing, happens to be the popular ASD Trade show. This is where thousands of suppliers come together to showcase inventories for on and off-line sellers. OK, are you in? Well, it’s a bit too late for this last show (March 1-4th -dang, just missed it!), but fear not, you’ll get another chance come August.
The ASD show offers nine categories of merchandise suppliers including Gifts & Home, Fashion & Accessories, Toys & Novelties, Beauty & Fragerenace, C-Store, General Store (with closeouts!), Sourcedirect @ ASD, Cash & Carry, and Smoke. Within nine categories, 2600 suppliers exhibit throughout the show. There are multiple suppliers for every retail business at ASD! The show is a must attend for eBay and Amazon sellers looking to expand inventory.
OK, now do you understand the value of attending the ASD show? I couldn’t attend this last show but was given updates by several colleagues who either attended as a buyer, or exhibited as a supplier source. One such, was Jeremy Hirsch from Genco Marketplace. Jeremy sent an email offering his impression:
“Traffic has been steady with well educated buyers who know the liquidation space well. Lots of west coast customers. Lots of online sellers.”
Genco has been exhibiting at the ASD show for several years, educating the market about the profitability of purchasing customer returns from nationwide big box retailers.
Now’s the time to start planning for the fall ASD Trade show; mark your Outlook calendar for August 2-5th (Sunday through Wednesday). Book mark the ASD website, where you will find links to attendee information, as well as hotel and travel info. How serious are you about product sourcing? You can prove your commitment by meeting up with me, at the show, in August 2015!
